The King's Fate

Hello my book loving family!!! Oh my gosh how I have missed blogging . . . and reading.  Seriously lol.  After achieving my Bachelors in Healthcare Administration, and working full time in a hospice (which is my second passion), I have had to find time to read lol.  But, enough about that, let's get down to business.  Oh how I have missed you.

I met Rissa Blakely through my friend EF Rose through Facebook when she fan girled over Shattered Lives lol.  I figured I would give it a try, and after reading her books and getting to know her through Facebook, I absolutely adore her.  She funny and she is serious about her writing.  When she announced about The King's Fate and how it is completely out of her norm, I was intrigued.  Why?  Because it had paranormal beings.  Yes, my favorite formula for a great cannot put down the book . . . book.

Now, to introduce my review on it, let me educate you a little bit if this is all new to you.  The main character, Leolin Kyffin, an incubus.  What is an incubus? Here is where the education comes in: an incubus (male) and a succubus (female) are demon like creatures who can have sex with a sleeping human.  That's right, they can enter someone's dream and can create an unforgettable moment.  Fancy.

Anyways, back to the point.  Leolin is married to a succubus, Louise Bach, who cannot have children.  So Leo finds a vampire and enters her dream and conceives a child.  This, right here is a big no-no in this world.  From the ruling of King Zachariah.

I'm almost done explaining because I don't want to give too much away lol.  So Leo and Louise plot to kill King Zachariah.  Well, plans do not go to well, and Leo plots revenge.  He enters the King's dream as his unborn child and creates what he believes what his son would look like as a grown man.  Thus, begins a whirlwind of different happenings.

The book consists of a lot of male on male sex scenes.  I am all a out different characters and the way they live.  Another reason why I love this book.  It's different and interesting, and it is hard to literally put down because you want to know what happens next.  I love The Black Dagger Brotherhood, I love the Fever series, I love the Merry Gentry series.  To have a book that focuses mainly on an incubus is new to me, and I love it.  To add this to my list of fairies and vampires, and others.

Thank you Rissa for bringing these characters into our world, and to expose us to new beginnings!!!

Make sure you give her love on her facebook

Gideon - Jacquelyn Frank

YAY!!! I'm back!!! Between the holidays, school, packing, moving, computer screen leaking (really) & gone for almost 7 weeks, I am here!!! And I feel like I can breathe lol.

(Frank, 2010)

So, now that I am back, I am able to blog more (heehee), and I have a long list of books that I have read to kill time (sick, waiting, etc).  The first book that I will talk about is Gideon by Jacquelyn Frank.

Ok, so Gideon is the second book in the Nightwalker series.  Jacob is the first book, which I just adore.  Gideon was a little bit more of a tougher read because I was just so in love with Jacob, that it pretty much ruined it for me lol.  But, overall, I enjoyed the book.  Really!!!

(Frank, 2010)
Gideon is the oldest male of the Nightwalker race, and he is a healer.  He claims Magdelegna, the Demon King's sister.  He was so embarrassed by this act that he left the race.  Later on, he is reunited with her, and the love between the two has escalated.  Jacob's wife is pregnant and is attacked and almost killed.  Jacob and Magdelegna are very protective of her and their young.  After the attack, there is a search of who really did the attack, and find out, the suspect was right under their nose the whole time.

Because this book has a lot going on, to keep with my habit, I feel the need to conceal a lot of important parts to make it more intriguing for you fellow readers.

I do recommend this book.  I give it 5 stars because it is very elegantly written.  It is like reading a book from the 1800s and has so much fantasy it is like a vivid dream.

Lover Eternal - J R Ward

Lover Eternal, book #2 in the Blackdagger Brotherhood series is once again, an excellent read. I have mentioned in the Dark Lover blog that I am pretty much addicted to this series. This book is about Rhage, a brother of the Blackdagger Brotherhood who has a curse on him that turns him into a beast-like dragon when he is fighting the Lessers.

With this curse, he is brought down by pain and blindness as well as being sick to his stomach while he recuperates. It took that one time that he was pretty much blind that he met his soul mate.

Mary lived by herself with her neighbor Bella near by, meets a boy named John. Well, Bella is a vampire, but Mary does not know it. There is something about John that kind of urks Bella, so she introduces John to the Brotherhood, bringing Mary along because Mary wants to stay with John, for protection.

While she is at the compound with Bella and John, she meets Rhage, and with Rhage being pretty much blind, but sees just enough, notices that she is near him, and he is enticed by her sound and her . . . scent. Almost immediately, Rhage is infatuated with her. But Mary has problems of her own to take care of before she falls in love . . .

Mary has cancer, and because of this, she refuses to let anyone get close to her. That is the only thing that really bugged me about this book. She has this great guy, who knows her condition, and wants to stay with her and hold her hand and be a shoulder to cry on but she will not allow it and picks fights. I can see protecting oneself, but, to me, it was a little irritating lol.

So . . . with the curse he has, him being in love with a woman who does not want to get close to him, but she wants to get close to him as well but does not allow it, and her condition, the Scribe Virgin shows up and pretty much gives him an ultimatum. Lose his curse or keep the woman he loves. I will just leave it at that . . .

I do recommend this book, and if you love the first one, you will love the others because it gives you a more intimate story of each brother, and each one you will fall in love with and ultimately choose your favorite . . . I already have

Okay, so I am going to be a little biased here . . . just a little, but I am just so happy for her :). I want to introduce you to my BFF of many years . . . E.F. Rose!!! She published her first ebook through Amazon called Echoes.

Echoes is full of poetry that has been written over a decade (or more), throughout the years, she would let me take a peak of her poems, and I have always loved them!!!

There are poems that consists of views from a murderer or a stalker. There are some that are just plain creepy such as things that go bump in the night. I know right?!?!?! Right up my
alley lol.

They are dark, psychotic, romantic. Ones that will give you nightmares, while there are some that you would fantasize about your significant other ;).  You put in literature you have read over the years whether it is a thriller or a paranormal/fantasy, and written out in poetry form, YOU WILL LOVE THEM!!!

Here is a little excerpt from Echoes: FAMILY SECRET
                         My garden gives forth,
                         The most beautiful flowers
And now all my neighbors look over,
                         So jealous!
                         They ask how my garden,
                         Has gotten so healthy
I say it's a family secret and I'm not telling
With a laugh I think, family secret indeed
                         For my secret's the family,
                         That's buried beneath

So, check out her first novel, Echoes on Amazon Kindle, and give it a looksy. Make sure you give her a shout out over her work on her Twitter and Facebook, check out her blog and share the love!!!

Dark Lover - J R Ward

So, I know that this series is not new, but it is new to me AND I LOVE IT!!! A friend of mine introduced me to this series a month ago and whenever I am in between books I go through withdrawals. So, here is another series that I will be blogging about while I go through the series so for those of you who have not read the series, I hope you enjoy it just as much as I have.

J R Ward has a series called the Black Dagger Brotherhood. The Black Dagger Brotherhood is about this group of warriors who fight these other guys known as the lessers. The lessers have a goal, which is getting rid of the Brotherhood. They pretty much sell their soul to the devil, they do not feel pain, they do not age, but their appearance changes. The Brotherhood protects other vampires as well as innocent lives. The Black Dagger Brotherhood consists of Wrath, Rhage, Zsadist, Phury, Tohrment, and Vishous.

Each book, like a lot of other series, is based on each character and their background. So the first one, Dark Lover, is about Wrath. He is the last pure bred in the Brotherhood. While reading this book, I pictured him with Dwayne Johnson's body (because he is freakin HUGE), Zak Bagans head (because he has strong features such as the character) with long black hair (just to give you a little visual0. When one of the brothers asked Wrath to take care of his daughter while she goes through the change (a change usually happens around the age of 25). Wrath was against it. He did not feel like being a babysitter. Well, after the brother has died in a car explosion, Wrath felt like he needed to do it in honor of his brother.

Little did he know, he fell in love with her.

Her name is Beth. She never knew her father. She never knew she had vampire blood in her. She is a reporter for the local paper, and is friends with the police department. There is also a detective (Butch) who has a HUGE thing for her, but she feels nothing for him. So that is where Wrath comes in to take her in and be there for her while she starts going through the change (which was any day). While he is taking care of her, she starts to get to know him a little more personally.

While she is getting to know him, she is getting to know her heritage as well since her father was a part of the Brotherhood as well. The more she gets to know, the less scared she is of what she is about to become.

When you are reading Dark Lover, you are also being introduced to the other brothers, which you get to know through each book. You are introduced to the brothers, characters involved with the lovers that are being brought in (such as Butch who is friends with Beth), Wellsie (who is Tohr's wife), the butler, other lessers, etc.

The thing that sets this series apart from the others that I have collected over the years, is that each chapter, there is different aspects. You have the point of view of the main character, then you have one of the character being brought in, and the point of view of the lessers. This ties everything together in what is happening in each book, and the books are continuous. This is with EVERYBODY in the series.

I hope you will pick up this book, which is the first one of the series and you fall in love with it as well. You have a lot of elements to these books: suspense, mystery, romance, sex, violence, comedy, horror, the list just goes on.

So, if you have just one genre you are into, you will still love these books, because it goes for everybody because of the mix of everything. Enjoy!!!

Industrial Magic by Kelley Armstrong

(Kathryn Hollinrake)
I admitted in my first blog that I am a big fan of Kelley Armstrong. I have many of her books, but unfortunately, it has taken me awhile to get to them because of other books I have received before this book, and then I had school, I was able to finally pick up. And then it took a month for me to put up the blog about it lol.

Ok, so now I have got you up to speed on why it has taken me a while to pick it up, let's talk
about it shall we?

Paige Winterbourne is back in her second book, Industrial Magic (a sequel to Dime Store Magic). Along with Paige, there is Savannah who Paige has been taking care of since her and Elena tagged team to get the preteen and themselves out of a so-called-dungeon of torture (just getting you guys caught up). In Dime Store Magic, you are also introduced to Lucas, who is Paige's main squeeze.  Ok, now that I got you caught up, lets get into the book.

Teenagers are missing all over the U.S. There  is one in Florida, one in Modesto (which is 45 minutes away from me so of course, I was all excited), and some other areas, just scattered around. Well, the one thing that these teenagers have in common is that they are part of the Cabals. The Cabals are almost like a Mafia. I know right? Ruthless. Well, Lucas' family is part of the Cabals and he was determined not to join. But his father Benicio is going through great lengths just to get Lucas and Paige to help find the person who is doing all of this. They are not the only ones who are brought into this either. There is a famous psychic who talks to the victims, a vampire with a bad attitude, werewolves that are a part of Elena's pack (Troy is divine by the way), and others. This book is just crazy.

I have to admit, this book was kind of slow to get into, but after a while, it started to get really interesting, especially when they started bringing in more people, people with different personalities and . . . species. When you mix all of these people together it gets really interesting, which I cannot tell you because it will actually give away the ending, and that is my rule, I do not hint the end . . .

I have always loved Kelley Armstrong's way of writing, and especially when each book jumps from character to character, but also the books in between the characters, blend them together. This is only book #3, and I have a long ways to go, but I am a dedicated reader so I am really curious on how the characters come along in the future. SSSSHHHHHHH DON'T TELL ME!!!! I like to stay surprised!!!

Overall, I really loved the book, it is different just like my other series that I have collected over the years, which makes it that much more special. It is not like all the other books that I have, and that is why I love her and her books. You get to know the characters and fall in love with them. There is violence, love, mystery, suspense, fantasy, all in one book. Dare you try it?
