Pull up a blanket, a cup of coffee (or tea for others), a nice little comfy corner of a couch (or your side of the bed), and spread the joy reading. If you like anything paranormal (werewolves, vampires, witches, demons and more) this is the place for you. If you have any suggestions for me, let me know. I will try them out and put what I think on here.

Mary Shelley
Ok, so here is another brilliant author, Mary Shelley (1797-1851). Yes, as in Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (published in 1818).
Another tragic love story, with some horror in it.
Why do I think it's a love story? Hhhhmmmm, not cuz it's romantic, cuz it definitely was not lol. I think the reason why I call it a love story is that "the monster" actually had a heart. He hated the fact that people ran away from him because of the way he looked. And all he wanted was to fit in.
And what's a love story without any drama? lol
It got to the point that "the monster" was so angry at his creator, that he actually caused a lot of damage everywhere he went. He killed his creator's little brother, and really got back at him when he killed his creator's new bride on their wedding night. In exchange for his life, he agreed to the monster that he will take his late wife and bring her back so the monster will have someone to love (hence, frankenstein's bride)
If you don't want to read the book, I totally recommend the movie with Robert Deniro (1994). But beware, it is a very long movie lol.
I actually cried watching the movie cuz I felt bad for the monster and then when the wife comes back as another monster, she was so angry at him, and I felt so bad for the both of them, cuz now the poor things won't be able to fit into the society of stuck up snobby people just because of the way they look.
I hope everyone enjoys this book, it's definitely worth the read. Or the few hours watching the movie, but just make sure you have a blanket with you to pull over your eyes and a box of tissues next to you to catch the tears, and of a course a box of chocolates to make you feel better lol
Emily Bronte
Wuthering Heights . . . ah, how do I love thee.
Published in 1847, caused a lot of ruckus in those days, due to the dark mental and physical problems.
To sum it up as much as I can, cuz a WHOLE lot happens. It's a love story between Catherine and Heathcliff (even though they were never together).
LOL, to be honest, this is the 3rd attempt of writing this blog because it's either giving the plot of the story or trying to sum it up, which is almost impossible lol.
But here is a Wikipedia of the story, it's awesome. It has the plot from the beginning to the end, after that it has a list of all the characters and who they are, and then there is a family tree at the end.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wuthering_heights
I totally recommend this book if you like a real dramatic, teary-eyed book. It'll make you cry, it will make you angry.
But it is truly romantic in all aspects.
I first heard about this book while watching Friends. You know, the one where Phoebe takes a literature class and Rachel tags along, and steals all of Phoebe's ideas for answers lol.
And then I saw it mentioned in the Twilight series, and I was thinking, "OK, apparently it was meant to be to read this book"
I could not put it down.
There are some parts your going to get lost in due to the language from the period.
If you prefer to watch the movie instead, I totally recommend the 1939 version of Wuthering Heights. There are other movies, and of course there were television series based on the book. But I truly adore the movie. I watched on AMC at like 2 o'clock in the morning, cuz sometimes I have problems sleeping, and I cried.
Well, I hope you check out the link that I put on here, and I hope it intrigues you enough to read the book. Totally recommend it.

Oscar Wilde
Oscar Wilde (1854-1900). The author of The Picture of Dorian Gray (published in 1891).
Characters Basil (not pronounced like the herb) and Lord Henry are attracted to Dorian because of his beauty.
And Sibyl who pretty much had Dorian's heart.
He has his portrait painted in the beginning of the story, and with this painting, he never ages.
When he realized he was lonely because his friends were aging and dying and he was still beautiful and young, he became angry. I won't tell you the ending.
I don't remember a lot on this story, because even though it was a good story, it was long. lol. It took me forever to read it.
If you've watched League of Extraordinary Gentleman, it has some qualities of the book, he is handsome, he is young, but the only difference is the ending on Dorian's life in the movie and in the book.
I was very disappointed in the ending. lol. I got to the end, read it, closed it, looked at my husband and literally said :"That's it? No POOF?" lol
With the way the book was magicially, I thought it would end the same way, and not simple.
Some people might of found it a really good ending, some people might of thought it was a good book all together, there might even be some that thought that after reading it the 1st time, they will never pick it up again.
But, honestly? I would so pick it up again. It's one of those books that you know that even when you didn't get it the first time, the 2nd time you read it, you will have better understanding on it and realize there are some parts that you never noticed because you spaced out hahahaha.
I do recommend this book. I'm not hating against it. I'm going to give it another chance. Every time I look at my bookshelf in the living room with all my classic books and ginormous books, I keep telling it, some other time, when I have the patience lol. You have to actually sit down and read it.
Off the topic, here are some updates on my current reading and a wonderful surprise that I got last night:
Just finished Michelle Bardsley's "I'm the Vampire, That's Why". The first book of the Broken Heart series. lol. yeah, I made the mistake of reading book 5 first, and not even realize it until I read book 4, went to Barnes & Noble to get more, and realized, I've been reading it all wrong hahahha. I was lost a few times, now I know why. But I absolutely love the series so far. Half way done considering I have 6 books of the series and read 3. Totally recommend it. When I finish the the last book, I will definitely put a post on it.
Second? I am very honored to say that MaryJanice Davidson commented on my blog "OH MY GOSH!!!". The blog was all about her Undead Series.
Ok, off to read book #2 of the Broken Heart series.
I will post about another classic tomorrow. And by far, I think it's the best classic book I have (and I have many)
Good readings to you :)

OH MY GOSH!!!
Ok, so I know I haven't posted in a while, but I was in the middle of finishing a series that I absolutely LOVE!!! I crammed like 4 books in a week to get caught up hahahaha.
What series did I finish? The Undead series from Mary Janice Davidson.
The first book, Undead and Unwed is about a woman named Elizabeth (Betsy) Taylor. It starts off talking about her last day alive on her 30th birthday. How she got laid off, and hit by a car and died. The part that will always stick with me? When she wakes up at the funeral home on the day of her funeral. She's pissed about what her step-mother put her in lol. She goes home and finds her house is packed up and all of her designer clothes AND SHOES are gone. She knows exactly where they are. LOL. She goes to her dad's/step-mother's house, just walks in, shows her family she is very much alive (kind of), and gets her clothes and shoes using her step-mothers gown as a bag hahahaha. Her best friend Jessica thinks it is so awesome her friend is a vampire.
She later finds out she is the new queen of vampires, and she has all these powers that other vampires don't have. Like, she can walk in sunlight but won't get burned, she can stand holy water (but it makes her sneeze), and hardly anything can kill her (except decapitation).
Later down the line (about 4 or 5 books into it), she finds out she has a half-sister who is 20 years old who is the spawn of satan. literally. What happened? Well, aparently the dark king (or queen?) possessed her step-mother's body (she was already mean and evil so no one really noticed the difference in personality), and got pregnant by her father, the step-mother "woke up" after she had the baby and dropped it off at the hospital. Hahahaha, and get this, the spawn of satan was adopted by a christian family (the father was a minister). So her sister grew up in a good home, and always did good, going to church, teaching a bible study, volunteering at a shelter or something. And why does she do this since her "mother" is satan? She's rebelling. She doesn't want to be evil at all. But you piss her off, her hair goes all deep red, and her eyes change to a green and she can produce a hellfire sword out of thin air (a sweet-sixteen birthday present from her parent from down under).
And the prophecy says that her half-sister will rule the world. And Betsy won't let it happen by pretty much reminding her sister that she is good, and she won't go against God (she doesn't even use profanity hahahaha).
I like reading the paperback so I have to wait until April 26th for that edition to come out BOOOOO!!!
So, a message to Mary Janice Davidson: Girl, keep up the good work, I hate how you leave me hanging like this hahahaha.
So what I already put down as info on this series, it isn't HALF of it, you want to know more? Read the series . . .

Series Numero Tres
Ok, so after talking about the Anita Blake, Merry Gentry and Women of the Otherworld (or is it Underworld?) lol
Now, off to the 3rd series, by the one and only Kim Harrison.
Rachel Morgan, a witch who has a sidekick that is a little fairy about the size of a finger, and has attitude bigger than him. Has a roommate who is half vampire and half human (vampire trait won't fully kick in until she dies), and lives in an abandoned church.
The reason why I love this series? The action scenes, the magic she does (glamor and all kinds of that good stuff) lol.

The Underworld Fan
So, the next series that I got addicted to, is very intriguing. Kelley Armstrong. Now, I'm not even half way through the series, but it's something I don't want to get tired of. The first book, Bitten, got my attention real quick. An employee at Barnes & Noble actually suggested her when she saw that I like the Laurell K Hamilton series.
Elena Michaels is the world’s only female werewolf. And she’s tired of it. Tired of a life spent hiding and protecting, a life where her most important job is hunting down rogue werewolves. Tired of a world that not only accepts the worst in her–her temper, her violence–but requires it. Worst of all, she realizes she’s growing content with that life, with being that person.
So she left the Pack and returned to Toronto where she’s trying to live as a human. When the Pack leader calls asking for her help fighting a sudden uprising, she only agrees because she owes him. Once this is over, she’ll be squared with the Pack and free to live life as a human. Which is what she wants. Really.
That's on the back of the first book "Bitten" which has a sequel "Stolen"Think your in-laws are scary? Try meeting Paige Winterbourne’s potential father-in-law: CEO of the Cortez Cabal, a multinational corporation…and the supernatural equivalent of the Mafia. Lucas Cortez has devoted his life to ruining the Cabals, though that doesn’t stop his father from expecting him to take over the family business someday. Benicio’s favorite ploy is to appeal to Lucas’s quixotic ideals by asking him to investigate Cabal cases of injustice.
After years of failure, Benicio finally has the perfect case: a teenage witch attacked and left for dead. Refusing will be difficult enough for Lucas…near impossible for his new witch girlfriend. Paige and Lucas soon discover that the young witch wasn’t the first Cabal teenager attacked.
When the infighting among the Cabals threatens to let the killer continue his spree, Paige and Lucas decide it’s up to them to stop him. The chase takes them on a cross-country hunt through the supernatural world, where allies can be found in the strangest places, including a celebrity necromancer, a wise-cracking Celtic deity, a pissed-off ghost, a half-mad clairvoyant, and a group of vampires who’d really rather be in an Anne Rice novel.
This is the back of the "Industrial Magic" a sequel to "Dime Store Magic" (which website isn't working for that one to get the information lol)I hope that intrigued some of you to start reading Kelley Armstrong. I love her, and you shall too.

My First Pick
Ok, so as I said in my previous posting, a good friend of mine turned me onto the Laurell K Hamilton books. First it was Anita Blake, the necromancer/vampire hunter/zombie raiser and she has 2 lovers Jean-Claude owner of Guilty Pleasures (strip club) and Master Vampire of the city, and Richard a science teacher/alpha wolf. They create this triumvirate to make all 3 of the stronger. Which literally makes them all kick ass.
And then there is the Merry Gentry series. Merry is half human half fairy. Her aunt is the Queen, and in order to get the throne is to get pregnant before her cousin. So she has like 6 lovers/bodyguards who all have different powers. And what is so awesome is that all the fairies "colors" are to their power. For instance, Frost. He is a warrior, and he controls water, ice, you name it and he is all blue and white and silver. MMMMM
I'm still in the process of reading both series, but it's hard when I am currently attracted to another series, which I'm almost done. lol. I will talk about that one later hahaha.

My Hobby
When I was like 11 or 12 I read the High School horror books. Teens going on killing sprees.
And, of course, when I got older I went for more intense books.
After high school, I pretty much stopped reading. I didn't have the time. I was going to college and was working and was in relationships that took up all my time.
I picked up reading again in 2008, when a friend of mine introduced me to this author (Laurell K Hamilton), and I've been addicted since.
I'm always finding authors I've never heard of before and giving them a try. Sometimes, before I even buy the book, I read the first chapter, and if I lose interest I don't bother, and so far there has been very few.
I have a short attention span, so it's really nice to find a book that captures my attention right away and keeps me hooked. There's no point in spending money on a book and it doesn't cut it lol.
My husband always teases me on how much reading I do. And he is now teasing that my 4 year old is now interested in going to the library or Barnes & Noble lol. She's got books everywhere in her room. And I told him, that I really hope she enjoys the books that I am currently reading and collecting so they will be in her possession when she gets older and so on and so on.
My collections varies lol. I have everything from classics (Dracula, Frankenstein, Picture of Dorian Grey), to paranormal romance (Mary Janice Davidson, Michele Bardsley) and sci/fi fantasy (Laurell K Hamilton, Kelley Armstrong, Kim Harrison) to even autobiographies (OMG, I love Tori Spelling).
Ok, well, it's getting late, tired from a fantastic birthday with hubby and my little princess lol.
Blog again tomorrow about my Laurell K Hamilton collection.
